Your Mac knows it’s you.

FaceUnlock signs you in the moment you sit down. A glance at the camera and the lock screen steps aside — everything runs on your Mac, nothing leaves it.

What it does

Face unlock, done the honest way.

No account, no cloud, no biometric data leaving your machine — and your password never goes away.

A look and a blink

Look at your Mac and blink once. It recognises you in about a second. The blink is what a photograph cannot do.

Everything on-device

Recognition happens locally on your Mac. Your face is never uploaded, and there’s nothing to sign up for.

Lives in your menu bar

A quiet icon, not another window. Enrol once and it just works from then on.

Liveness built in

Motion over time helps tell a real, present face from a photo held up to the camera.

It never locks you out

Wrong light or a bad angle? The normal password field simply returns — automatically, every time.

Encrypted & yours

Your face profile is encrypted with a key held in the macOS Keychain, and never shown again after setup.

Three steps

From download to a glance.

Setup takes about a minute. The order matters — enrol, enable, then just sit down.

STEP 01

Enrol your face

Sit at a comfortable distance and let FaceUnlock capture a few angles. Under a minute, once.

STEP 02

Enable the lock screen

One switch adds face unlock to the macOS login path — and keeps your password right beside it.

STEP 03

Look and blink

Lock your Mac, look at the camera and blink once, and you’re in. If it doesn’t recognise you, type your password as usual.

Privacy & security

Convenience that respects the lock.

On-device onlyNo cloud, no account, and no telemetry of your biometric data. Ever.
Your password always worksFace unlock is added beside your password, never in place of it.
Fully reversibleRemove it any time and your login returns exactly as it was, untouched.
Respects macOS securityIt never disables system protections — it plugs into the login path Apple provides.
An honest note FaceUnlock uses your Mac’s regular 2D camera. It’s excellent for everyday convenience, but a webcam has no depth sensor — so it isn’t as hard to fool with a photo or video as Face ID’s dedicated hardware. That’s exactly why your password stays in place as the stronger fallback.
